It’s a beautiful and damp early June morning in Michigan. I am sitting comfortably in my pj’s with some fuzzy slippers, sipping on my coffee that’s lightly flavored with chocolate almond milk. (Amazing. Do it. Life changing. And HEALTHIER!)
I already went into the living room, unplugged my Himalayan salt lamp so I could plug it in by me. It’s currently on the left side of this laptop.
I love those things. They give me happy vibes! They’re so pretty and I like the warmth in light and vision that they produce. Best gift ever! (Thank you Grams!)
And from there I started brainstorming after reading a couple of my most favorite quotes:
“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints in our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.” – Unknown
“In life, you’ll realize that there is a purpose for every person you meet. Some are there to test you… Some will use you… Some will teach you, and some will bring out the best in you.” – Anonymous
I’ve been thinking on this a lot lately. I’ve known it to be true for quite some time in my life. But it’s comforting to remind yourself here and there as well. Basically, every person we meet serves a purpose in our lives and none of it is selected by random. God has chosen certain people and placed them in each of our very own unique stories!
What? You thought life was random with no direction at all? No, my friend. There is a much bigger picture.
That also doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t care because it’s all in the stars for us anyway, so it doesn’t matter who we chase or let go of. That’s not the right mindset either.
People may come and go, however, everyone teaches us something. If you feel like you haven’t learned enough, it’s time to open up your third eye and start taking notes.
Some people are only in our lives for a short period of time. Some people stay for years. Others may stay forever until our last day.
Everyone has a story… and that adds to our story to either savor our lives or sour it or both! As long as we pay attention and learn from people, things turn out okay. Even if someone made you feel like you didn’t benefit at all from their presence… maybe they were put here to make you reach for more goodness in yourself. To remind you not to ever turn into them with bitter, hate or anger in your heart.
There are so many different perspectives to look at and think about. I only know for certain that this is all a part of God’s plan.
I’ve noticed when I am a lesson for someone. I’m sure we’ve all had a friend were suddenly they cut us off or we lose contact. That was the end of your season in their lives. I’ve noticed when I make a positive impact on others to the point that they can’t forget. Those are real special moments. I added something big to their story, in return, their happiness and gratitude for me added to mine.
In hindsight, accept others so you can learn from them and grow. Life is short and we are only here for so much time. It’s important to take each individual lesson you’ve received and reflect on it to understand better who it is that you are and what it is that God is trying to teach you.
The more you do this, the easier it gets. Don’t take things too personally and never chase someone who doesn’t feel the need to make time for you. Again, people come and go!
So let them come and let them go. And you must allow yourself to do the same for others. Be a lesson. Receive a lesson. It’s all an important part of growth. You can prosper so much in life if you pay attention to details and accept certain facts that way, you don’t end up stuck or hurt.
Some of us, like myself, have a lot of very bad, negative experiences from people. I never gave up my Faith though. And in return I’ve been able to turn that pain into something beautiful and I even found so much meaning in why I had to endure so much. Truly, I wouldn’t be who I am today without it. It has shaped me in ways that I love.
Nonetheless, I give thanks to people and what they’ve taught me. I’ve learned who I am in the process of my own life and I wouldn’t trade my distinctiveness for the world.
I hope this gives you comfort in times of wondering the reason why someone was brought into your life. It’s all due to perspective of the situation so make sure you have the right outlook. If not, God’s words and promises will leave you feeling more wholesome about it all.
For this, I KNOW for certain. Here is one of my favorite quotes from the bible that has reflected on my life in numerous ways:
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Until next time! Onwards and Upwards.
